Meet Dr. Thomas
Ian Thomas, MD MSc CAQSM RMSK RSCC CSCS
Dr. Thomas, owner of Thomas Sports and Regenerative Orthopedics (TSARO), is a Harvard-trained orthopedic interventionist fellowship trained in Sports Medicine, Regenerative Medicine, and Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography with additional fellowship experience in stem-cell harvesting techniques at the Harvard Dana Farber Cancer Institute and interventional pain procedures at Harvard Boston Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Thomas has a particular interest in injury prevention, biomechanical analysis, sports performance optimization, diagnostic ultrasonography, regenerative medicine, and minimally-invasive sono-surgical techniques with a focus on performing arts athletes and golf medicine.
He has over ten years of coaching experience as a strength and conditioning coach, head coach, and program director in men's artistic gymnastics. He has trained multiple first-place all-around state and regional champions, junior elite and national competitors. Dr. Thomas has written book chapters in ultrasonography including the upcoming third edition of "Mayeaux's Essential Guide to Primary Care Procedures: Deep Vein Thrombosis Evaluation" and co-authored the chapter on gymnastics in the second edition of The American College of Sports Medicine’s “Sports Medicine: A Comprehensive Review”, the premier textbook for training sports medicine physicians.
